Your life will be much more convenient for it. Give the soft one's a chance is what I'm saying. There are disposable soft contacts out there that I could buy, but the price was still pretty high on them (for the Rx that I'd need) last time I checked. I still prefer it to wearing glasses though. Overall I probably spend about $20/month on the fucking cleaning shit. For more information and regulations, visit. While a large bottle of OPTI-FREE® solution may be permitted by the TSA, we suggest packing a 2oz travel-sized bottle in your carry on bag, since it may be easier going through security. There is a cleaning solution you have to rub each lens in for like 20-30 seconds, and then a conditioning solution you have to put them in for overnight. Technically, TSA permits contact lens solutions to be carried on board a flight. The worst part of RGP lenses though, is the cleaning of them every single night. They get real itchy and 'thick' feeling on my eye. Also, if I am in a smokey bar or around a fire or something, they dry out something fierce. Many times, I've had to pull over and cry for a few minutes until whatever was under it washed out. That is a driving hazard, if you blink and a piece of dust gets under one. And if anything blows into them (dust, dirt, eyelash), the pain is excruciating. When I first started wearing them, I remember not being able to keep my eye open whilst putting them in, because it was so jarring/scary to stick them in my eye. They are essentially like having a thick piece of plastic sitting on your eye. It's not as bad as pins and needles in your eye, but if I think about them (like right now), I can tell they are sitting on my eye. I have a sever astigmatism and have had to wear RGP for about the last 13 years.
